Liferuiner 25th Nov

Interview with Liferuiner (http://www.myspace.com/xlifexruinerx)

So you have recently toured the uk with recon and to kill. How was it?

We love the UK. Kids over there really blew us away. It’s amazing to see that hardcore and straight edge are most definitely alive and well in the UK. Touring with Recon was awesome those guys have become great friends and same with To Kill. Totally awesome dudes.

Iv heard loads of rumours about the 1st of december. One of which being a record release. Can you tell me anymore about this?

12.1.08! I don’t really know what to say about it. We’re very excited about 12.1.08. Unfortunately that’s pretty much all I can tell you right now.

With liferuiner having so many members is it just the passion for the songs and decication to the name which makes members wanting to carry it on rather than just being a new band?

Pretty much. It’s just bad luck really. Whenever new people get in the band they seem dedicated and we think WOW this is the line up that’s going to last and then people change. We get a lot of hate for the revolving line up but honestly despite the rotating cast, everyone comes into it with the right mentality to be true to hardcore and straight edge.

when did you first hear about straight edge and what was it that made you deciede to be edge?

When i was younger, just getting into high school I’d see my friends and people i know experimenting with drugs and drinking and a lot of the negative aspects that go along with doing that and immediately felt disconnected with that type of culture and the idea that I HAD to drink and do drugs to be cool or fit in. So i simply made the commitment to be drug free. Shortly afterwards i learned about this entire amazing counterculture called Straight Edge that simply advocated and reinforced the drug free views that I already had.

What are your feelings on the straight edge community today?

There’s a lot of good stuff going on and a lot of bullshit going on as well. There’s a lot of straight edge bands actively touring right now which I think is awesome. I think that label Seventh Dagger is doing a lot of positive things for straight edge signing amazing bands like Rhinoceros, XTyrantX and XAFBX as well as taking a strong stance with their beliefs. Sometimes it can be extreme but I think extreme measures are sort of necessary this day and age when straight edge is constantly being disrespected by people claiming it without fully understanding that straight edge is supposed to be a life long commitment. There’s been rumors that Liferuiner is no longer and edge band and that’s the furthest thing from the truth. Personally, straight edge is perhaps the most important decision I’ve ever made in my life and I stand tall behind that belief structure.

When you write new records who would you say are your biggest influences?

There may or may not be a new recording coming out and our influences are power tools. violence. war movies. epic speeches. straight edge. and mosh.

Is there any difference to when you play shows in the us and when Ýou play shows over here in the uk?

I mean, we’ve been touring the US for a long time and are at the point now where the response is almost always very solid and this past tour was our first time in the UK and we were really floored at the response we received. The UK was amazing. Kids moshed hard, sang along and really had an awesome hardcore community. Much respect to the UK.

Do you think you will tour the uk again anytime soon?

We may or may not be working really hard to make that happen.

If you could sum up the hardcore scene today in three words. What would they be?

ummm some scenes are good and bad. I’ll go with the good.. Frienship.Violence.Respect.

  1. I love you

  2. This is the biggest load of bullshit I’ve ever heard in my life. You joined a cover band so you could get a free trip to Europe and tell your friends that you’re somebody when you’re nobody.

  3. who the fuck is this kid, i dont think he even knows what he is talking about

    jamesxxx

  4. Who’s been touring the US for a long time??

  5. Certainly NOT the person answering the questions, that’s who. Some kids from CT and some kids from Cali. And last I checked, touring since JULY does not qualify you as touring the US for a long time.

Get educated. Who the fuck is this interview even with? It’s with whatever loser runs their Myspace.

    Friendship. Violence. Respect.
More like Riding. Other people’s. Dicks.
