Honour Among Thieves 21st Oct 2008

Honour Among Thieves, Interview with sheep.

Firstly sorry to hear about the split, obvious question then. whats the deal with you breaking up?

There’s no drama or falling outs or anything like that, we’re all still friends. I guess different people had different ideas about how the band should be run, and the amount of work that should be put into it. It’s hard to find 5 people on the same page, & I guess by the end none of us were…..

Its such a shame. Even more so after you recorded 5 new (amazing) tracks. Whats the story behind the names of them?

Ha, that’s too easy. I’m not going to tell you. It all ties in together with the name of the record & the theme, but you have to work it out for yourself. Do a bit of homework.

With the band members coming from 5 countrys how did you all manage to get together to start the band?

Well simple answer is that we all just lived in london & knew each other one way or another…. Nothing too exciting! London is a melting pot of nationalities & we all just ended up here….

You have played all over europe a number of times, where do you feel you got the best reception?

The best show we did outside of england was prague for sure. It’s where damage done are based (peeps who released our 7″ live) so I guess we had an unfair advantage. Munich was pretty sweet, as was berlin cuz we got to skate all day.

I saw you the astoria last december, what was it like playing in a venue like that?

A bit odd. Barriers suck. Having room to run around is cool, & getting to play to new faces who haven’t heard what we have to say before is cool. Not sure I’d wanna do that type of show all the time but it was fine for a one off!

With the Nakatomi Plaza demo having the “Die Hard” theme, where did the idea for this come from?

I couldn’t think of good names for the songs so I decided to just use diehard quotes and theme the record. I like themed records, I like the continuity. And of course, we love diehard so it all worked out well.

Also as your second from last show, you played deadfest this year, how was that?

Deadfest was pretty awesome. We ended up playing twice, but the 2nd time when I told everyone to move up, they did. It was weird yet totally awesome. Lids started stage diving & the show was so much better. We had a lot of kids say they were stoked on the show, so Thank you sweden!

Does any of Honour among thieves have plans for the future?

Jorge is looking at starting a new band at the moment, & I’m sure ivona will be in a band sooner or later, she’s too good to be idle. Bryen has his solo stuff, & he was talking about signing for a metal band last time I talked to him. Imran & I are both pretty busy with work, but we’re working on something new.. It’ll take a while for that to come together tho.

What would you say was the highlight of being in hat?

It’s hard to pick one thng. Getting to know all the guys in the band better was awesome, travelling around europe and playing in crazy places, playing where no english band had ever been before, russia, finland…. We’ve had a lot of fun. The record release show was amazing & definitely sticks out… Because we don’t really have breakdowns & the stuff that’s popular right now, it was cool to get such a great reception even though we’re not the cool thing.

What can we expect from your last ever show on friday?

A bang! Hopefully. We don’t have anything special planned, other than our usual shit. I’m hoing to be bloody & bruised by the end of the set for sure. We have a cover song which I’m stoked about… I hope kids show up l we get to go out with a bang, but who knows what will happen…..
